St Agnes, Cornwall

Perched on a steeply sloping site with sweeping views of the bay and sea, a dated 1970s maisonette is poised for an extraordinary transformation. This project seeks to reimagine the property, blending bold contemporary architecture with the natural beauty of its surroundings to create a home that redefines modern coastal living.

The design approach begins with the roofline, which will be raised to expand interior volumes and introduce large areas of glazing. These openings are carefully positioned to frame the spectacular vistas, flooding the interiors with light and drawing the outside in. An outdated conservatory will give way to a sleek, contemporary extension, enhancing both the aesthetic and functionality of the home.
Externally, the design embraces a palette of locally-sourced materials. A robust stone base anchors the building to the site, while cladding above introduces a refined, modern character that complements the natural surroundings.

This design balances bold architectural interventions with a deep respect for the property’s context. The vision is not just to create a striking modern home but to craft a space that feels inherently connected to its site, celebrating the interplay between structure, landscape, and the dramatic views.
